| Date From | 1930 | General view of the surface buildings at Gasswater Barytes Mine. The mine produced barium sulphate [barytes] which was used as a filler by the paint and paper industries, as well as in ceramics and glass production. A quartz like mineral, it varies in colour from pure white [high quality] to light pink. |
