| Date From | | Ardrossan firemen, part of Strathclyde Fire Brigade, with their fire engine. Ardrossan had its first fire engine in 1869. It was a "Patent Curricle Fire Engine" which cost £73 and could hold 22 men. Curricle is described as "a two wheeled open chaise drawn by two horses" More info: "The History of Ardrossan Fire Brigade", 1938. |
