Transport / Roads / Buses

<< Back

The first passenger buses were introduced before 1914, and the early small independent operators were amalgamated into bigger companies. For many years the main rivals were A1 buses, Western S.M.T and A.A. Motor Services Ltd. In the summer months, the number of day-trippers to the ever-popular Ayrshire coast enhances the local commuting and shopping trade. The main operator in the county now is Stagecoach (West).
