A whisky tasting by George Thomson, one of two production directors at Johnnie Walker's. The Kilmarnock grocery and wine business was established by John Walker in 1820. As the business expanded under his sons, the emphasis shifted towards producing quality blended whisky. Alexander (John's grandson) Walker's flair and business acumen furthered the success and growth of the company. Alexander introduced the square bottle, distinctive labels and the figure of Johnnie Walker. 'Red Label' is among the best selling whiskies in the world today and Walkers continue to trade from their bottling plant in Kilmarnock and bonded warehouses at Hurlford.
