Date From | | General view of the factory of Afton Glen Textiles Ltd, The Castle, New Cumnock. The factory was made up of two buildings, connected by a tunnel. The tall building in the centre of the photo held the office, trim shop and garage. The lower building on the right (to the left of the telegraph pole)held the rough room and the postboarding machines. To the right of that was the dyehouse. You are only seeing about half of the factory in the photo. The factory occupied this site from 1953 to 1982, and was rebuilt as shown in 1966. |
